Where this applies
This policy explains what “unlimited” means on Web Hosting, WordPress Hosting and Cloud Hosting plans.
What “unlimited” means
For normal personal and small-business websites, we set no fixed cap on bandwidth, number of websites or disk space, as long as your use follows our Terms of Service and Acceptable Use Policy.
If your usage or content threatens a server’s stability, performance, uptime, storage or network, we may ask you to upgrade to a VPS, or limit the resources your site can use.
What “unlimited” doesn’t mean
- These are shared hosting plans: many websites share one server’s resources.
- They are not meant for sustained enterprise-level demand, or for applications better suited to a VPS or dedicated server.
- Automated safeguards may slow a site that grows very quickly while we review what it needs.
- Where we can, we try to give growing sites more resources, including moving them to newer or larger shared servers.
Disk space
There is no fixed disk-space limit and no storage-based fee, as long as you use the space to host websites. You may not use it for the following; doing so may lead to your account being terminated, with or without notice:
- online storage, or hosting videos, images or audio files for other sites;
- games, installers or executable files;
- backups, or archives of files, documents or logs;
- web spiders or indexers, IRC, torrents, file sharing or peer-to-peer activity;
- test environments, among other uses that aren’t a website.
Databases
A database larger than 1 GB can slow the server down: we may ask you to make it smaller, or disable the account, with or without notice. You can create several databases, each kept under 1 GB.
Bandwidth
There is no limit on visitor traffic or monthly uploads, and no extra bandwidth charges, as long as your use follows our terms. To protect other customers, we may limit the processor time, bandwidth, processes or memory a site can use.
Unacceptable resource use
On these plans, you may not:
- run cron jobs more often than once every [MINIMUM CRON INTERVAL, to be confirmed by the business];
- run MySQL queries that take longer than 30 seconds;
- use more than 25% of a server’s resources for more than 90 seconds at a time, for example through CGI scripts, FTP, PHP or HTTP activity;
- keep a mailbox larger than 5 GB, or more than 50 GB of mailboxes in total on one domain.
If limits are exceeded
Depending on the case, we may limit your resources, ask you to upgrade to a VPS, ask you to make a database smaller, or disable or terminate the account, with or without notice.
